A Gamer's Lazy Boy: Sit Back, Relax, And Be Pummeled
10/01/2008
Article Written by: L.C.
The ultimate in interactive gaming is here and it's a 180-degree turn from
the likes of the DDR dance pads, the sensory fighting arenas, and the
Wii-motes. The Capcom Reactor Game Chair may earn some frowns from health
activists, but let's face it, it is THE chair for gamers working their way
on those new titles on a 20/7 basis.
It's compatible with any game and handheld console, and PC system. It's
also said to be compatible with iPods and home theatre systems (WTF!). it
also comes with a wireless adapter for any sort of controller (in case
you've really got to sit 20 feet away from that 150" 1080p HDTV). who needs
massage chairs with one of these? We guarantee purple patches in a week,
and Sagat's back muscles and abs after 30 days. Now how would a shouryuken
feel with one of its eight high impact vibrating motors!
There are three types of game chairs available, if you want to feel like
a big shot (or you simply have a rear that fits the size of the chair
you're sitting on), there's the "Ultimate Game Chair v3 with a dimension of
38" (L) x 43" (H) x 29" (W). The standard Reactor Game Chair comes with
measurements of 33" (L) x 17" (W) x 24" (H). And for small frames, there's
the Reactor Mini Game Chair, at 25.75" (L) x 14.5" (W) x 24.5" (H). Oh yes,
the Reactor Game Chair is said to be warrantied at up to 200 lbs. If you
need extra warranty, the site's offering from 9 months to 33 months with
prices from US $59 to $279.99 respectively.
The chairs are shaped according to the human body's contours in seemingly
the most comfortable sitting position. It's best to choose a seat according
to your height though as the back curvature of the largest seat may not
designed for kid's prolonged use. Oddly enough, the chair does not come
with arm rests, but then again, this gives the gamer more flexibility for
changing to different leg positions. Gamers will just have to watch out for
the audio and video cables located on the bottom right base of the seat.
It's not cool to accidentally step on that iPod lest you want to test it
ala T3 UK style.
The 3D speaker mounts are cool, eliminating the need for a 5.1 surround
sound system deal. The most difficult thing to do with this is seat is
probably the getting up part since gamers are snuggly seated with a slight
incline.
While the Reactor Game Chair is compatible with PC systems, it's said to be
a little low and does not come with a keyboard and mouse tray. Oh well,
nothing like a little ingenuity and improvisation can't fix.
The series actually started with the Ultimate Game Chair back in 2003 by
Richard Florez and James Real with product development lasting for two
years and was first seen in the wild in March of 2005.
For purchases within Canada, the Playdium Store ()
carries the Capcom Reactor Game Chair. Can't wait for the page to load?
